Yes, it’s upon us again RECORD STORE DAY. Forget Valentines Day, Mother’s Day and even Christmas Day. RECORD STORE DAY is truly the most special day to rejoice. A day where we celebrate everything glorious about independent Record stores. Everyone’s aware that physical sales of music has taken a plummet in recent years but there are still many stores out there that stock all manner of underground music on physical format, keeping it alive. It’s great and the utmost respect to all of them. Record store’s all around the world join in unison on Saturday, each with their own programme of events and releases.
If you are in Ireland make sure and stop by the following spots:
All City Records
For those of you, like myself, based in London then there is no need to things going on. Some highlights include:
Rat Records – Radioactive Man, Dexocist, Jerome Hill and others play in store
Blackmarket Records – Blawan, D Bridge, Icicle and others play in store. Tickets to be won also
Vinyl Pimp – Luke Vibert, Planet Mu DJ’s, Ital Tek, Equinox, Muziq and more play in store
There is of course plenty more happening in different cities throughout the world. Wherever you are, if there’s a Record Store near, get down and support it!!
