Birmingham is a city that’s well known for giving the world the heavier side of life in the form of Black Sabbath and Napalm Death. However, a vibrant hip hop scene has been growing theast while thanks to the likes of Eat Good Records, a label that has been championing the city’s hip hop massive such as Sonny Jim, Redbeard and RTKAL to name a few. Another young MC whose just joined the Eat Good ranks is Dan Oddysee. Having already put out two releases this year under the Voids moniker, he chooses to go by Dan Oddysee for his debut release for the label.
The Come Up sees him explore a number of topics from his upbringing to everyday musings, all laid over some really solid grooves. The D.I.Y. aesthetic flows throughout and you can tell it was most probably recorded in his bedroom with just a backing track,a mic and no vocal effects. A really quality release with some wicked lyrics and definitely someone to keep an eye on.
