The Scandal Rankin festival celebrates the music and culture of the Caribbean in one weekend of pretty much non-stop food and tunes in Cork city on September 14th and 15th.
Taking place in two separate venues, the festival will bring together some of the biggest names in the Irish dancehall, reggae, ska, dub, jungle and dubstep together for one weekend of good vibes in Cork.
Kicking off on Saturday afternoon, the Brú Bar will host a full Caribbean cuisine BBQ, marinated with the sounds of top selectors from heavyweight Irish crews such as Revelation Sound, RiseUp, Junior Spesh and !Kaboogie. Then it’s over the road to Cyprus Avenue for scandalous dancehall action where headliner General Dotsie (Worries Outernational) will cause a ruckus. Widely regarded as some of the top dancehall selectors in Europe, Worries Outernational selectors bring the fire like no one else. Don’t miss Dotsie’s smash up the dance. “I plan to play an upfront selection of classic dancehall riddims, current bashment and exclusive worries dubplates” said the General in anticipation of his first gig in Cork for many many years.
