Out of all the shows I’ve done so far, this is the most varied in style, starting off with low(ish) tempo electronica tunes, then into hip hop, electro, techno and breaks.
Rob DC joins me to chat about all things tunes and the backstory to the Rua Sound and Foxy Jangle labels. Make sure to check them out cus they’re slingin serious bass heavy tunes, jungle and breaky-bass bidniz (the official description there).
The interview was recorded at the Community Skratch Games 2018 (in a cupboard basically, ha!) right before he went on to play the closing set of the night. As you’ll hear, my voice was on its way out after 2 days of CSG madness, so massive thanks to Rob for getting involved considering all the madness!
The record of the week was Kate Tempest, Let Them Eat Chaos album, so I play a few tracks from that. Other notable mentions go to All City’s sub-label All Chival, Quare Grooves Vol 1, which I’m obsessed with. If you like funk and soul vibes, you need this in your life. Irish hip hop legend Gavin DaVinci gets a spin a couple of times too, along with another Irish hip hop legend Sebi C.
Love to all from us at Skirmish. Hope the self-isolating is as ok as possible, go easy on yerselves.
