Jungle and DnB crews in Ireland are seriously raising the bar for enthusiasts everywhere. Jungle Boogie!, Rua Sound, RiseUp, Wardance and Subtle Audio are just some of the crews with on the ball bookings, top DJs and quality releases. Keep it coming lads, we’re enjoying every minute of it!
Out of all of them jungle’s a genre that in a way defied the fluctuations of the changing music industry. It’s a testament to how good it is when it’s done right. It’s great to see people come out of the woodwork for gigs here and what better than a fuckload of snares on a soundsystem!
For this edition of the Skirmix series we proudly present a guest mix brought to you by Welfare and Tamen. Welfare has just launched record label Rua Sound with an EP from Sully with Sam Binga on the remix tip. It’s an epic first release and we look forward to the second release which drops in late April.
Between DJ touring, running the Rua Sound record label with Rob DC, SubVersion SoundSystem outings and some remix and production activity to boot Welfare has a busy few months ahead. Catch him touring the country on the Jungle Boogie! 5th birthday lap and playing solo nationwide as well as in the UK, central Europe and in Croatia over the festival season.
Tamen will be continuing to work hard producing in the studio, as well as djing around Spain and afar, promoting Subtle Audio‘s forthcoming “10 years of Breakbeats” LP and pushing his Jungle Ting nights in Barcelona with his crew Jungle Jungle which have also just celebrated their 10th anniversary!
Here’s more on the mix from Welfare:
“This is the second in our series of impromptu deck jams, which basically crystallise when we are both in Galway at the same time and in the mood for a mix! This one was recorded over Xmas, one hour, one take vibe. Alas we have had to hold off on tracklisting as there a few far away dubplates in there…Usual mix of uptempo goodness”
